The Corinthian Mantel
The Corinthian mantel is an impressive chimneypiece full of subtle detailing inspired by an original 1920s mantelpiece.
The wide, moulded fireplace opening is framed between two grooved pillars. There is decorative moulding to the block feet and individual circular details applied in a band near the top of the columns.
A large pediment straddles the whole of the top of the piece with multiple stepped and moulded sections displaying the intricacy of the cabinet work (
over 100 separate pieces of wood are used to make this surround) giving a classical revivalist feel to the piece.
