A late 1920's mantel in Mahogany with ebonised mouldings to the legs and ebonised caddy top. The central section of the mantel is stepped both forward and upward from the outer legs and features moulding around the opening. It has a two tier ebonised top and a raised, diagonally quartered, book matched mahogany panel.

1920s Mantel in Mahogany and Walnut A stepped and boxed framework mantel in mahogany is typical of the 1920's pieces made by the firm of Balfours in Beith, the dominant mantelpiece manufacturers in Scotland for many years. This piece (design # 10017) displays the fine design and craftsmanship
which gained the firm its reputation and features book matched, burr walnut

An imposing, angular design with geometric banding to the top. The upper tier has two flat panels around a central concave panel in fiddle back veneer. They are topped with interlocking applied beading rising to a central chamfered pinnacle. The bottom section in straight grained mahogany has chamfered sides which sweeps down onto solid block feet. The feet have been cut to accomodate a 48 inch wide hearth at a thickness of 2 inches. The fireplace opening has substantial moulding running around it. Condition: EXCELLENT Sizes |

A beautiful Walnut mantel from the mid to late 1920's. The central block of the frieze is in Burr Walnut with a hand carved pattern of leaves and flowers that blends to the moulding around the fireplace opening. All the individual pieces of wood feature a radiused edge from the block feet, the legs with additional outside blocks, rounded shoulders and central raised frieze block. Condition: EXCELLENT Sizes |

A simple art deco bowed frieze design lightened with a range of ornamentation. The top and bottom of the frieze are trimmed with a greek key pattern, the two sides with finely grooved work and the two bottom corners with carved daisy flowers.
