1930s Mahogany Mantel

A late 1920's mantel in Mahogany with ebonised mouldings to the legs and ebonised caddy top.

The central section of the mantel is stepped both forward and upward from the outer legs and features moulding around the opening.

It has a two tier ebonised top and a raised, diagonally quartered, book matched mahogany panel.

1920s Oak Mantel

A simple shaped 1920's oak mantle featuring block feet and a large bolection moulding mitred at the corners.

The large rebate is suited to a stepped back opening type of
fireplace insert such as f473

1920s Mantel in Mahogany and Walnut

A stepped and boxed framework mantel in mahogany is typical of the 1920's pieces made by the firm of Balfours in Beith, the dominant mantelpiece manufacturers in Scotland for many years.

This piece (design # 10017) displays the fine design and craftsmanship which gained the firm its reputation and features book matched, burr walnut panels in the legs and central frieze section.

Late 1920s Mahogany Mantle

An imposing, angular design with geometric banding to the top.

The upper tier has two flat panels around a central concave panel in fiddle back veneer. They are topped with interlocking applied beading rising to a central chamfered pinnacle.

The bottom section in straight grained mahogany has chamfered sides which sweeps down onto solid block feet. The feet have been cut to accomodate a 48 inch wide hearth at a thickness of 2 inches.

The fireplace opening has substantial moulding running around it.

1920s Walnut Mantel

A beautiful Walnut mantel from the mid to late 1920's. The central block of the frieze is in Burr Walnut with a hand carved pattern of leaves and flowers that blends to the moulding around the fireplace opening.

All the individual pieces of wood feature a radiused edge from the block feet, the legs with additional outside blocks, rounded shoulders and central raised frieze block.

1930s Mahogany Mantel

A simple art deco bowed frieze design lightened with a range of ornamentation.

The top and bottom of the frieze are trimmed with a greek key pattern, the two sides with finely grooved work and the two bottom corners with carved daisy flowers.

The whole of the bowed section is supported by a double bracket

1920s Oak Mantel

A 1920s Oak mantel with a caddy top It has a recessed frieze with basket weave beading with flowers across the top. The centre of the mantel has hand carved sunburst with a flower. The mantel comes with block feet that extend around the outside.

1920s Mantel

A 1920s mahogany mantelpiece of unusual construction with a wavy frieze mirroring the shape of the contoured shelf. The tall slender legs are finely moulded to the inside opening and end in block feet. Above the lower shelf is a solid panel of mahogany capped off with a shapely cornice.

1920s Oak Chimney Piece

A fine oak mantel with a generously bowed
and vertically veneered frieze that steps
back to the legs. It has a caddy style flush
mantel which is faced with a greek key
decorated border along the top. The bottom
of the frieze is finished with a border of
petals and there is fine moulding around
the fireplace opening which finished with
the block feet

the 1920s. This superb quality timber
fireplace mantel has very impressive
moulded detail and a lovely origina patina.
It is mitred in the corners and could be
reduced in width. The rebate can be
changed to fit any type of fireplace insert.

1920s Oak Mantel

A flat topped oak mantel with shallow
drop shoulders. The cross banded frieze
panel is quartered with parquetry detailing.
The quality and crosscut nature of the
panel is outstanding. The legs finish in
solid block feet with detail moulding above,
which runs up and around the inside
opening (needs minor repairs to finish)

1920s Mahogany Fireplace Mantel

A finely figured mahogany Fireplace Mantel with delicate fluted
mouldings ending in roundels. It has celtic style banding
around the frieze. It has a caddy style top with minimal
overhang and the long straight undershelf with more intricate
banding is supported by three brackets.

This Fireplace Mantel was removed from a 1920s semi detached
house in Wilmslow and had an original tiled back panel
and flush tiled hearth.

Adams Style Pine Fireplace Mantel

An Adams style pine Fireplace Mantel with elongated
brackets which run into the body down to moulded
block feet. It has a nicely moulded mantel and
Dentil decoration above and below the frieze.
The classical decoration is carved wood. The Fireplace Mantel
would probably go well with an arched Fireplace insert
and a black tiled hearth.
