A Fireplace hearth is a fire-resistant area placed around a fire.

The Decorative Hearth sits over the constructional hearth. This hearth is usually made from stone, slate or ceramic tiles.

Polished Granite Hearths
Unslabbed Granite hearths are not suitable for use with solid fuels as the intense heat generated may cause cracking

Slabbed Stone Hearths
When slabbed for Solid Fuel the hearth is split and rejoined with a concrete fill to prevent heat from cracking the stone

Flat backs
For fireplace openings level with or in front of the brickwork of the chimney.

Kicks (tongues)
Accomodate fireplace openings that step back behing the bricks of the chimney breast

for Baxi underfloor and similar systems

What Size does a hearth have to be?

Solid Fuel Fireplaces
With an open fire there is no defined limit as long as there is a fixed fender. Otherwise it should be 15" deep. We can supply separate back hearths for use with fire baskets.

FirebasketsWith an open fire there is no defined limit as long as there is a fixed fender. Otherwise it should be 15" deep.

Stoves
The hearth should extend 12" in front of the stove

These hearths can be made in many sizes and colours. The main tile colours we use are:
