The Clarence Arch was a common Fireplace feature
from 1900 to World War 1. It largely replaced
the black cast iron insert of the Victorian era.

The opening tiles and arch tiles of this Fireplace
are are hand made in our Manchester factory
and glazed on the premises to match the Fireplace
tiles of England's last remaing Fireplace tile
manufacturer ( H.E. Smith of Stoke on Trent )

We offer the complete range of colours in this
design with the Arts and Crafts Dot detail
or a larger keystone detail if required

Most people choose to set this insert with an
original Fireplace Mantel and it can be built to fit almost any of them.

The insert also complements a number of our Reproduction Fireplace Mantels
such as the Empire, Gatsby, Ellis and Teardrop but any
of these Fireplace Mantels can be manufactured to surround any Fireplace insert*

These insert designs are shown at 40" square but they
can be manufactured at any size if necessary.
We offer a complete bespoke service where each
Fireplace is manufactured to a customers requirements.

Tiled Fireplace including hearth and fret from

£695.

To burn solid fuel a stool grate is also required.
Living Flame Gas Fires
are also available to suit these Fireplaces.

All tiled products are manufactured in
Manchester at our factory/showroom site

Different opening tiles are not available for this Fireplace.

Hearth sizes
Originally most pre-war Fireplaces would have had hearths
laid flush with the wooden floor. In general they were about
48" wide and 18" deep. Current gas and solid fuel regulations
now stipulate that a 2"(50mm) raised hearth is required.

Our hearths can me made in large sizes so
that the Fireplace Mantel stands on it, small so that the
Fireplace Mantel stands on the floor or somewhere in between
(either the Fireplace Mantel or the hearth is cut out).

The standard sizes are small (39.5" x 16"in 4" tiles) and
large( 54"x15") in 6" tiles but they can be made in
any size or shape on request.

Our Tiled Fireplaces can be made in many sizes and colours.
The main colours we use are now shown on our tile colour page

20th Century Fires reserves the right to make minor design changes to the reproduction inserts or Fireplace Mantels shown on this site.

Our tiles are reproduced using similar methods to the original items and the degree of shade variation is inherent and desirable. Tiles are manufactured to bs6431 and are not guaranteed against crazing. Whilest most tiles do not normally craze, the thickness of glaze necessary to reproduce the very shiny Victorian colours may occasionally cause this to occur. It does not affect the serviceability and actually achieves a truer degree of reproduction effect.
