We are bespoke manufacturers of quality reproductions of Tiled Fireplaces and inserts from original designs.
All Tiled Fireplaces are designed to stand alone but tiled inserts are designed to be surrounded by a Fireplace Mantel.

These Fireplaces can be manufactured at any size if necessary.
We offer a complete bespoke service where each Fireplace is manufactured to a customers requirements color.

Living Flame Gas Fires are also available to suit these Fireplaces.
We supply stool grates for burning solid fuel and logs, frets and baskets.

The opening tiles are available in different designs plain curved or deco patterned.

Hearth sizes
Originally most pre-war Fireplaces would have had hearths laid flush with the wooden floor. In general they were about 48" wide and 18" deep. Current gas and solid fuel regulations now stipulate that a 2"(50mm) raised hearth is required.

The standard sizes are small (39.5" x 16"in 4" tiles) and large (54"x15") in 6" tiles but they can be made in any size or shape on request.

Other colours are used for some detail work. Since computer monitor settings vary, the appearance of these colours may differ from the actual tiles. Tile samples are available. We will happily supply them by post

20th Century Fires reserves the right to make minor design changes to the reproduction inserts or Fireplace Mantels shown on this site.

Our tiles are reproduced using similar methods to the original items and the degree of shade variation is inherent and desirable. Tiles are manufactured to bs6431 and are not guaranteed against crazing. Whilest most tiles do not normally craze, the thickness of glaze necessary to reproduce the very shiny Victorian colours may occasionally cause this to occur. It does not affect the serviceability and actually achieves a truer degree of reproduction effect.
