A very rare design of fireplace originating from Wilmslow in Cheshire and dating to the late 1920's. The back panel is made in one piece with a semicircular overmantel panel decorated with two diamond tiles above the pi shaped fireplace opening. The hearth is also a semicircle echoing the overmantel shape. The semicircles are framed in an orange/brown mottled moulding as is the greek letter pi of the fire opening and shelf. The infill tiles are contrasting beige/brown mottle. The pad in the hearth has been replaced at some date due to wear and tear with a granite brown tile. Condition: EXCELLENT |

An unusually proportioned 1930s fireplace made from large moulded blocks glazed with a beige/brown mottle. A darker brown mottled glaze has been used for the fire opening and the raised section of hearth immediately in front of the fire. The sides of the fireplace opening are highlighted with purple lustre glaze tiles typical of the manufacturers, Thynne of Hereford. Given the large dimensions of the fireplace opening
(24 inches) and the thickness of the hearth, the fireplace was most likely intended to
have been wood burning only using a Devon fireback. It can be

A 1930's all tiled fireplace in beige and straw coloured mottled tiles contrasting with feature tiles in a rich Midnight Blue background colour mottled with greens and orange browns. The stepped opening blocks and cheeks are also in the darker blue colour as is the recessed section of the hearth behing a 4 inch wide raised kerb. The fireplace is of the single dropped shoulder design with a central lowered shelf and faience support in the darker tiles. f534 A 1930's bedroom fireplace in a beige speckled tile with a kerbed hearth. The fire opening is framed all round with golden brown moulded relief blocks. This is complemented by the darker brown mottled finger tiles in the three vertical stripes which incorporate a square of lustre tiles as decoration. An imposing faience block fireplace with Tudor arch from the 1930s. It is glazed in a light beige brown mottle with contrasting 6 inch x 2 inch tiles in a darker brown forming the hearth and stepped block feature around the fire opening. The Tudor arch panel has faux columns with acanthus leaf capitals. The spandrels are decorated with a Tudor rose and intertwined foliage. It has a single step to the shoulders, the shape of which is followed by the use of two different shades of mottled tiles ( orange / brown and straw / purple-brown.) have been salvaged and a small hearth or hearth feature could be made from

A large and finely detailed fireplace from the 1930's with an angled corner hearth and wide steps for the feet of the fireback. The intermediate step is curved and formed from half inch wide fingers. The fire opening is formed from large moulded blocks and recessed, the recess being framed with narrowly ribbed, embossed tiles that echo the thin sticks of the curved sides. The whole design is executed in a beige/brown mottled tile with two horizontal
bands and the kerb of the hearth in a darker, almost purple/brown mottle. Condition: EXCELLENT |
