Large 1950s Fireplace
This fireplace design dates from the early 1950's and features curved pillars
framing an arched recess to the fire opening. A wide raised kerb to the hearth is reflected in the ample central tiled shelf at the top.
The tiles are mostly a pale beige / brown mottle with slightly darker shading for the base of the pillars and the stepped arch blocks.
The major decoration is in various shades of lustre glazed tiles. Three wide stripes at the top of the pillars echoed with three narrower ones to either side of the arch which end in a full row of 1 inch wide lustre sticks arranged vertically under the full width of the shelf.
