1930s Fireplace Insert
A 1930's insert made from large moulded blocks glazed with a beige/brown
mottle. The fireplace was made by Thynne of
Hereford and is typical of their glazing and styling.
It has a recessed fire opening around which are multi cloured mottled
tiles and finger details in lustre glaze.
The hearth has a raised section
in front of the fire opening suggesting that it was originally intended for
use with a wood burning fireback.
The curve of the arch is echoed in the
curved raised kerbing to the hearth.
