1930s Tudor Arched Fireplace
An imposing faience block fireplace with Tudor arch from
the 1930s. It is glazed in a light beige brown mottle with contrasting
6 inch x 2 inch tiles in a darker brown forming the hearth and
stepped block feature around the fire opening.
The Tudor arch
panel has faux columns with acanthus leaf capitals. The
spandrels are decorated with a Tudor rose and intertwined
foliage.
This central panel is framed by two sturdy
bolection columns with block feet and capped by a large 4
piece bolection header.
The hearth with the darker,
cross-bonded tiles has canted corners framed within a
raised, profiled kerb in the lighter mottled faience
mouldings.
