1920s Art Deco Marble Fireplace
A superb example of a 1920s marble
fireplace removed from a large
Edwardian
home near Bolton Lancashire.
It is made
from three different marbles, a coral
marble for the frieze, green
Connemara
marble around it and jet black Belgian
marble for the fireplace edge
detail.
The fireplace has drop shoulders and
a recessed fire opening. Inside this
the insert is made from polished stainless
steel that curves back even further
to the
fireplace opening. The chamfered
mitred
detail throughout is of outstanding quality.
The large curved hearth
kerbs in the
black
marble are very rare.
This fireplace is suitable for a solid fuel
or gas fire. The small
tiled area in front
of the fire opening could also be adapted
for a Baxi
type underfloor draught fire.
Condition: VERY GOOD
It has had some minor repairs over the years
