The Burnall Underfloor Draught Fire The Burnall is not an ordinary fire. It uses air from under the floor instead of the air in the room itself and so reduces draughts. The fire is built on a lower than normal grate and draws the air to burn the fuel from under the floorboards through a pipe. The airflow can be controlled by an air control lever on the front of the grate. This can open or close the pipe which turns the fire up or down. If a deepening bar is installed at the front of the grate it enables a larger fire to be built. With the fire turned down it can burn overnight and then be quickly turned up in the morning . The Burnall can have a lift out ashbox (shown) which is large enough to be emptied every 2-3 days or, if the chimney is on an external wall, it can have an outside ashbox. This can be emptied from outside which means that the fire does not have to be out when emptying the ash and also makes no mess in the house. The Burnall was previously known as the Baxi System.
